What we are aiming for

We build these pages to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at Level AA. That is the target we work to. We are not claiming we have fully met it, and nobody has certified this site. Where we know we fall short, it is written down below.

What we have tested

On this page and on the home, pricing, your-data and about pages, in English at the site root and in Spanish under /es:

  • Automated checks with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 rules, at 1440px and 390px wide.
  • Keyboard-only operation of the FAQ and the "what we send" switcher: reach, open, close and move between items using Tab, Enter, Space, the arrow keys, Home and End.
  • A visible focus outline on every control, checked against the colour behind it.
  • Text and background colour pairs across the pages, including text set over photographs, measured from the rendered pixels rather than from the stylesheet.
  • Heading order, landmark regions, page language and form label association.
  • Touch target sizes at 390px wide.

What we have not tested

We want to be straight about the gaps rather than imply more coverage than we have:

  • No testing with real assistive technology yet. No screen reader run-through with VoiceOver, NVDA or JAWS, and no testing with voice control or a switch device.
  • No testing with people who use these tools daily. Automated checks catch a minority of real barriers.
  • Covered: the five pages at the site root and their five Spanish twins under /es, in both languages. Not covered: the customer portal, the account area, the legal pages, and the rest of the Spanish site under /es.
  • Emails we send on a contractor's behalf have not been audited.

Known limitations we have not fixed

  • Links inside running sentences, such as the sub-processors link, are the height of the text rather than a 44 by 44 pixel target. WCAG allows this for links in a block of text, and enlarging them would break the paragraph, but it is still harder to hit on a phone.
  • The three-day calendar in the page header is exposed as a single image with a text description rather than as a readable structure. Someone using a screen reader gets the summary, not the individual entries.
  • The email previews reproduce the real messages we send, including their colours. One line of small grey text in the membership email measures 4.51 to 1, which passes AA but only just.
  • The site has not been checked at 400 percent browser zoom or with a custom stylesheet applied.

If something here blocks you

Email us and tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way. Reply and we will get back to you. We will tell you either how to get the same thing done another way or when we expect to have it fixed.
